Gene6 Beginners' Football Academy began with a single pitch and a simple belief — that every child deserves a structured, joyful introduction to football, regardless of background.
As word spread across Lagos, the academy formalised its curriculum into clear age-grouped stages, hired specialist coaches, and welcomed its first cohort of over a thousand players.
Gene6 runs structured classes from age four through to semi-professional preparation, with private coaching and a digital sign-up system that keeps every family connected to their player's progress.
Encouraging creative and critical thinking. Identifying the gifts and talents of each individual child and nurturing them. Providing a broad, balanced, interconnected curriculum for outstanding learning and excellent pastoral care in a safe, secure and enriching environment.
The academy works towards self-imposed targets while aspiring to independently recognised standards, staying open, balanced and honest in facing its challenges. Gene6 is also committed to informing every stakeholder of its performance in Corporate Social Responsibility.
Oladoke Popoola is a graduate of Electrical Electronics from Federal Polytechnic Offa. He has attended several courses within and outside Nigeria on Telecommunication networks and has been privileged to work with so many telecommunication companies and service providers within Nigeria and abroad, among which include but not limited to Airtel, Glo, MTN, Zain, Etisalat, Servetek, GTL. These wealth of experience in human and material management and implementation of projects for quality and timely project delivery built him to take the bold step to set up his own company. While working as an engineer with these telecommunication giants, he had one passion to develop the Nigerian children through football, which now led him to register a football Academy (Gene6 Beginners Football Academy), and subsequently Gene6 football club and Gene6 supporters club, all with the good intention of developing grass roots football in Nigeria and beyond. And since he puts his leg on the acceleration pedal, he has not relented. He has been able to cement solid relationships with top football clubs and Academies in the UK, Germany, Turkey to mention but a few. He has succeeded in using the Academy in working together to improve collective livelihoods. Making every management and staff of Gene6 to believe in his vision and be accountable, acknowledging that the process of development is just as important as the results. By focusing primarily upon capacity building, grassroots development promotes inclusiveness and resilience.
Olatunbosun Igbokoyi is an ex-footballer. He started his career in football at a young age when he was in secondary school. He has attended several training programmes as a footballer that led him to serve under Power Holding Company (the then National Electric Power Authority), Okin Oloja Football Club, Frab Football Club, and Julius Berger Football Club. I decided to Join Gene6 football Club, I am specialized as a Technical Adviser for football clubs. My being a Technical Adviser enables me to give qualitative Advice and timely response to our team. I have passion to develop Nigeria Children thoroughly football Which led me to join Gene6 football Club.
Afolabi Oluwatosin, born on August 19th 1987, attended the National Institute of Sports to study football coaching and graduated with an Advanced Coaching Certificate. A former coach at Gunners F.A. with 15 years of coaching experience, now coaching in Gene6 BFA. He joined the team to contribute to the development of youth and to produce new stars in the game of soccer.
